How Social Media Has Impacted Fashion Trends

How Social Media Has Impacted Fashion Trends

Every decade had its main fashion trends that stayed for the full 10 years, we all know 70’s hippy, 80’s neon, 90’s grunge, and y2k futuristic with a retro edge, but what about the 2010s. 2010 to 2012 was still y2k style, 2013 to 2016 was all boy bands, and then 2017 to 2019 were all repeats of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. It was all over the place, and so far 2021 hasn’t been any different, starting with y2k fashion, then the 90’s, and finally its own style with hints of both the 90s and ’00s.

Adapting Your Closet For The Upcoming Months

Adapting Your Closet For The Upcoming Months

This fall is gonna be all about showing off your clothes that you weren’t able to because of quarantine. This fall is also gonna be about hanging out with friends if you haven’t done so this summer. So, as the first blog post in over 2 months I wanted to tell you what these upcoming months are gonna look like. And to start it off I am going to tell you about how shopping is gonna look in these next few weeks before the end of summer.

Let Idiots Burn In Hell

Let Idiots Burn In Hell

When you are expressing yourself through fashion, people will comment on your outfit. And maybe you will take their opinions and think them through, cry, or just ignore them like the badass you are. Peoples opinions are like flies, buzzing around you and constantly annoying. On rare occasion, they will be helpful, but on the more realistic side, they are the most frustrating thing that can occur when it comes to fashion. Whether it is simple, “Your outfit is very bold,” with hints of disgust. Or the straight up, “What are you wearing?” The one sentence that can send you over the edge.

Get Out and Do Something

Get Out and Do Something

Getting yourself out of the house and doing something that isn’t staring at your phone all day can be tricky, especially during a pandemic. But because teens need to be social and not trapped in one space for a while, getting out and doing things is important. Also seeing your friends and getting boba is VERY important. Whether that was going for a jog, or hanging out with friends, getting out of the house, made me much happier and easygoing. Now, because of vaccines, there is less worry with getting together with people outside of your household and going to stores.

My Teen Life in the Pandemic

My Teen Life in the Pandemic

Even in a global pandemic, there is still so much to do to entertain ourselves. Just because we can’t have social contact with others, doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and find ways to stay positive.

Live While You’re Young

Live While You’re Young

When fashion comes along, as a teenager, I know how hard it can be to not just dress like you’re 20. But what we need to remember is to live while we’re young. I’ve realized recently, that my fashion and style are slowly becoming things that someone would wear in college, or when my outfits are more businessy, to an interview. But it also wasn’t until recently, when I was so caught up in my blog, and following my fashion dreams, that I realized that I’m in 7th grade, not high school. There is no reason for me to be wanting to intern with a fashion designer now or become a model so that I will have extra money to spend on clothes, or even feel like I need to be living up to my idols.

An Evolution

An Evolution

2020 through 2021 has been a year of big changes. For one, we all struggled with the transition from “normal life” ie. eating out, seeing friends and family, and going to work or school to “quarantine life” ie. costco bags of onion rings and netflix (but no chill). However, the biggest changes have been internal. Even if with vaccines rolling out, and facilities opening back up, things will not be the same.

Shopping Too Much During Quarantine

Shopping Too Much During Quarantine

Covid has been tough on all of us, and I am happy to be able to say that it should be coming to a close soon. Everyone had their way of coping during the pandemic, and for me that was shopping. Which has had quite a negative impact on my bank account. It got so bad, that I would be proud of myself if I made it a week without buying some fashion thing that was trending. And let’s just say that my closet is currently bursting with clothes that I have bought this year. From 7 new pairs of shoes, to 9 new bags, finding matching pieces has not been a problem.

Retail Therapy

Retail Therapy

Everyone has that one thing that makes them calm and collected, or maybe happy on a sad day. For me, and others alike, retail therapy is my zen. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I found out that retail therapy was the proper name for shopping because it makes you happy. And I can easily say that I’m happy all the time, mostly because I find myself shopping online or in store, 24/7. However, for some, shopping is just another to-do list activity, that they don’t find calming or fun.

A Passion for Fashion … and Maybe More?

A Passion for Fashion … and Maybe More?

Everyone has that one thing that they love, dancing, math, writing. That thing that they could do for hours and feel like minutes. That drives them to be their true selves. For me, it is fashion, or somewhere around there, maybe like a category? Art? I don’t think...

Be Bold But Be You

Be Bold But Be You

I previously wrote about being brave with your fashion, but what happens when you are bold, but not comfortable in what you are wearing? When you put on an amazing outfit, but you look at it again and realize it is not something you would wear. This happens a lot with me, I pick out a really cute outfit, that is both bold and brave, but I quickly realize that it is not something I like. Then halfway through the day, I start to not feel good in it, because it isn’t me.

Shopping Small

Shopping Small

Shopping. It’s addictive, fun, and can seem like the only thing to do when you are hanging out with friends. So why isn’t there a way for us to shop and have fun while also supporting a veteran who recently took up knitting, a women-owned* jewelry brand, or an...

The Pink Wall on Melrose

The Pink Wall on Melrose

As most may know, there is a pink wall on Melrose that has a ton of people coming from all over the world to get a picture for their Instagram. It is literally a plain pink wall that surrounds the store, Paul Smith. With more than 100,000 people coming a year to take a selfie, what makes it so special?

What to Wear in LA

What to Wear in LA

It can be really difficult to decide what to wear in LA when one second you see celebrities like LeBron James just chilling at your new neighbor’s house, and another you see teens just like you walking down Fairfax. Especially with the changing weather in LA, it can be very hard to pick out something to wear. I hate being underdressed but being overdressed can be equally embarrassing. And LA is filled with people who wear designer clothing and others that are just like you and me.

The Colors of 2021

The Colors of 2021

Each year there are colors that represent it. This year according to Pantone, the colors are PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. The colors this year are a gray and yellow, “A combination of color whose ties to insight, innovation and intuition, and respect for wisdom, experience, and intelligence inspires regeneration, pressing us forward toward new ways of thinking and concepts.”

Are Expensive Clothes Really Worth It?

Are Expensive Clothes Really Worth It?

I spend almost everyday shopping, whether that’s online or in person. Either way, what can be really hard to figure out is whether or not expensive clothes are really worth it. The only way I manage to get expensive clothes is from gifts and saving up. So when it comes to designer clothing I am not an expert. However, there was one time when a misunderstanding happened between an expensive store and a friend of my mom’s. In the end, my mom’s friend ended up with a whole lot of expensive clothes that we could pick from. So, this meaning that I have experienced both sides of clothes, the fancy and the cheap.

Have Nothing To Wear?

Have Nothing To Wear?

Have you ever gotten up in the morning, rummaged through your closet, and realized you have “nothing to wear”? Well, I have too, and sometimes the task of picking a unique and original outfit each day can seem very daunting. Thankfully, though, there are a few things...

Animal Testing in the Cosmetics Industry

Animal Testing in the Cosmetics Industry

With everything in the world evolving and changing, animal testing seems like it should be one to change. Right? Animal testing on products in many different industries has been going on since at least 500 BC. But it is a very old way to do things, with all the tech we have nowadays there is a way to skip the animal cruelty part of manufacturing something. However, even after all these years, there are still a few brands that stick to animal testing on their products.

Bravery in Fashion

Bravery in Fashion

I know first hand the feeling of chickening out on an amazing outfit. Trust me. That feeling in the morning where you are too nervous to wear the outfit because of what people will think, but want to wear it because you love it so much. If you can believe it, just 2 years ago, all I would wear were simple pattern leggings and graphic tee shirts. I would set out an outfit that consisted of a hot pink jacket and fun platform sandals but would decide that it was too fancy and everyone would point that out. Now I am wearing the most extravagant of outfits for lounging around the house, and if you’re wondering how I got here.

Unknow online stores? Yay or nay?

Unknow online stores? Yay or nay?

I have, and I’m sure you have too, been stuck trying to decide if a deal on a website is too good to be true or not. Most of the time that stuff is cheap enough that I just decide to order it, but most of the time I end up spending money on clothes that are the material of a cheap napkin, some even look like it. However, there are a few websites out there that have actually good clothes that are on the cheaper side. Here are a few ways to figure out if a website you want to shop at is actually for real.
